بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ الۤمۤ

Alif. Lam. Mim.

غُلِبَتِ ٱلرُّومُ

Defeated have been the Byzantines

فِیۤ أَدۡنَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ غَلَبِهِمۡ سَیَغۡلِبُونَ

in the lands close-by; yet it is they who, notwithstanding this their defeat, shall be victorious
